March 12, 2021 - As we solidly step into another tax season, I'd like to take a moment to reflect on the past year. At this time, a year ago, we were just learning about 'Novel Coronavirus,' having no idea the destructive path it would carve through so many lives. Some of us lost jobs; others of us lost loved ones. All of us have had to learn how to safely navigate our new world and try to find some normalcy where, for many, nothing any longer seems normal.
Amid all the turmoil, our government and its esteemed advisors have worked diligently to put programs in place to keep individuals and businesses afloat. Paycheck Protection Program loans, Economic Injury Disaster Loans, unemployment benefits, stimulus checks – just to name a few – have helped many piece things back together financially, if not temporarily.
Like many of you, we at Abacus Tax Solutions have faced all of the same challenges – trying to figure out how to stay safe, stay afloat and stay sane (anyone else feeling a bit cooped up?). In addition to these personal challenges, we've also had to stay abreast of ever-changing policies on the new governmental programs so we could help to guide you - our client – with the application and repayment processes and in understanding how tax law will apply. To say things have gone less than perfectly on our end would be an understatement; we recognize that we have, on occasion, fallen short trying to navigate these unprecedented times - despite our very best efforts. We thank you for your patience and understanding as we continue to strive daily to improve our internal processes, keeping our goal of providing the level of service you deserve top of mind.
